Reception with Artists

MEET THE ARTISTS

AT AG GALLERY

APRIL 8, FRIDAY from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Here is a great news for everyone whocouldn't join to our last opening night, March 18th. We would like to invite you all to our small reception night with artists of current exhibition, "CLUSTER".

Because two of the artists in this exhibition currently live in Europe, it is sometimes hard to meet up even for us as gallery staffs. Luckily, one of the artists, Martha Nilsson Edelheit, will stay in NYC early April. AG Gallery will have a small reception with Martha Nilsson Edelheit and Alexis Duque (he lives in NY). Feel free to join with your friend and have some wines with artists you rarely meet up. We are looking forward to seeing you all at AG gallery this Friday night.

About Glamour current exhibition:

"CLUSTER"

Showing Through: May 1 , 2011

AG Gallery in Williamsburg is pleased to present a group exhibition, “CLUSTER,” by emerging artists Alexis Duque, Peter Janssen and Martha Nilsson Edelheit. The exhibition shows various ways to portray the relationship between space and object.

FEATURED ARTIST'S BIO:

Martha Nilsson Edelheit was born in New York City, where she lived and worked for most of her life. In 1993, she moved to Sweden and currently lives outside of Stockholm. Her change in residence, from an urban area to the Swedish countryside, has made a huge impact to her motif of work. The dominant theme in her work changed from human element to animal imagery. Living her life transculturally, Edelheit observed this contemporary world in a shrewd percpective, and reached to the idea to look at what is still here.

The animal as muse remains a continuous part of her work as Edelheit plays with image shape, size, scale, transparency, density and color vibrancy. She also plays with format by expressing her ideas through paintings, drawings, and sculptures. With her current animal subject, sheep, Edelheit depicts groups of the animal through three-dimensional drawing, painting and metal wire. The dialogue between the cast shadow, solid form, wire and ink line, is intense, poetic, and sometimes political. For example, And the Lion Lies Down with the Lamb and Wolf in Sheep's Clothing was painted after George W. Bush was elected.

Her solo exhibitions up to this time has been mostly held in NY and North Europe(Sweden and Finland). She wishes to continue her career with the theme of animals in the country side as friendly, indemendent individuals.

At the counter, the catalogue of her works and former exhibition's postcards are also available to purchase at the counter.

Again, the small reception for meeting artists, Martha and Alexis, from “CLUSTER”
will be held on April 8th at AG Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will be on view through May 1st, 2011.

We open everyday during this exhibition period.
